Frequently asked questions.
How do class sign-ups work?
As I can only offer a limited number of lessons, a schedule is released monthly. The schedule is released at noon the 28th of the previous month. In order to be fair, I require that all students wait until the formal release before signing up. If you sign up for a class before the schedule has been released, your class will be cancelled. I also ask that you please limit yourself to signing up for one weekNIGHT class the day of the release to allow for all interested to have a chance. There is no limit on the number of weekEND classes and conditioning classes.
All class spots will have room for two students. If you would like to have a PRIVATE lesson, please sign up for both student slots. If you are interested in a private lesson but were unable to sign up for both spots on the schedule, contact me to set up something outside of the given schedule.
Finally, as I am only offering private lessons and shared lessons, if you sign up for ONE student spot in a class and within 24 hours of the class no-one else has signed up for the second spot, you will be given the option to cancel the class without fee OR to pay an additional $25 keep and take the class as a discounted private lesson.
What do I wear for class?
Please wear clothing that covers the back of your knees. The apparatus is a steel hoop and can be abrasive, clothing will help. Be prepared to remove jewelry. I recommend wearing layers for comfort and coverage and socks/tennis shoes for the warm-up.
Please also be sure to bring your phone, waterbottle, and any emergency medication.
Do I need to have movement background or be strong/bendy to attend class?
NO! Everyone starts somewhere, and this is the best way to do it. Lessons at M.Alice in Flight meet you where you are. You will be introduced to skills from the ground, up as we work together to build strength and confidence. I will guide you along the way and you will never be forced to do something you’re not ready for. As a certified instructor, I am here to help you SAFELY realize and achieve your goals.
Do I need to have a certain ceiling to have you perform?
This depends on the type of performance you’re looking for. If the ceilings are high enough a rig can be brought in and if the space doesn’t allow for a rig or ceiling attachment, lollipop lyra/lyra pole may be an option. Reach out to discuss details.
